Program Description 

Beaches Sandbox is currently seeking youth aged 14-15 years to join our CIT program for summer 2023!

The Beaches Sandbox CIT program runs from July 3rd to August 25th and requires a minimum 4-week commitment throughout the summer (these weeks do not have to be consecutive). CIT’s will assist counsellors in program planning, delivery, and providing a fun and engaging camp experience. By doing so, youth in the CIT program will gain on-the-job experience, develop new skills and knowledge, gain self-confidence in their abilities, and enjoy the experience of a great camp program. 

 

Applicants should be mature, creative, enthusiastic, eager to learn, organized, responsible, and comfortable working with kids. This position requires the ability to commit to 4 weeks in the summer (does not have to be consecutive), as well as attend any training. Graduates of the CIT program who are of legal working age next summer, will be given preferred consideration for Junior Camp Counsellor positions for the 2024 Beaches Sandbox Summer Camp season.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should possess:

• Must be between the ages of 14 & 15

• Mature, enthusiastic, and eager to learn 

• Enjoys working with children 

• Can provide at least (1) reference

• Ability to commit to mandatory trainings and 4 weeks in the summer

 

Selection Process:

• Forms for the Beaches Sandbox CIT program will be available on January 3rd, 2023. 

• Applications must be submitted by email or in person by April 11th 2023. Candidates will be required to come to the centre for a selection night on May 8th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Candidates must present a game, activity or craft to the camp staff to showcase their skills and abilities. 

• Applicants selected for the CIT program will be notified by May 13th and will be provided a full registration package as well as information on trainings, and Beaches Sandbox gear to use at the camp.
