About the event
This workshop is an exclusive opportunity for community members to learn about and support marginalized and racialized members of our Beaches community. By attending this workshop you will grow your awareness about yourself and others to foster an inclusive community.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
- What does inclusion in the Beaches Community look like?
- What are the different types of biases and who do they affect?
- How does our environment effect our decisions about others?
- Breaking down biases through self-awareness
- Effective communication that will help you learn about others
Afsana Gibson-Chowdhury Q. Med is a member of the Beaches community, mother, lawyer and mediator. She has spent the last years of her career focusing on teaching about diversity and inclusion, as well as anti-racism strategies due to the changing social environment, and the increase in violence and hate crimes towards racialized groups. Afsana provides an open and safe space for many people to learn and grow awareness about people who are different to them.
Ticket price includes workshop, educational materials, as well as light refreshments.
