About Harrison Kennedy
Harrison Kennedy is a Canadian and international Blues legend. He was one of the founding members of the Chairmen of the Board, the million-selling soul group based out of Detroit. They opened shows for legendary performers, such as B.B. King, Isaac Hayes, and Smokey Robinson, and appeared on shows like Soul Train and American Bandstand.
In 2004, Kennedy began producing albums as a solo artist and to date has six JUNO nominations, including a win for Best Blues Album. Recent accolades include two nominations at the 2023 Blues Foundation Music Awards nominee in Memphis, Tennessee, winner of the 2022 Blues with a Feeling Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maple Blues Awards in Toronto (as well as several nominations), and a 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hamilton Arts Awards. The iconic B.B. King referred to Kennedy as his favourite blues artist in Canada.
About Trombone Charlotte
Charlotte McAfee-Brunner, aka Trombone Charlotte, is a hardworking jazz musician in the Toronto scene who has branched out into other genres including blues, which you'll hear at the Beaches Sandbox. Joined by incredible musicians Jesse Whiteley on piano and Kyle Sullivan on drums, she will play guitar and trombone on a mix of the great old trad and blues standards and a selection of her most bluesy songs from her extensive (as yet unrecorded) original repertoire.
Trombone Charlotte has been playing professionally since 2016 but recent highlights include being a featured artist performing original songs in the 2023 Women’s Blues Review at Massey Hall, leading her jazz bands at the 2023 and 2024 Toronto Jazz Festival, Kensington Market Jazz festival, 2023 Cultivate's Hibernate festival, 2024 Port Hope Jazz Festival, and more. She is often featured as a Top Pick in @jazzintoronto's daily show listings and plays trombone at the Cameron House every Sunday night in a psychedelic country funk band called the Doghouse Orchestra.
