Your Visit

Beaches Sandbox is committed to making our programs, workshops and events accessible to all. We offer several services to help our guests feel welcome and we continue to make improvements.

Please inform our guest relations team if you require special assistance when you sign up for a program, or when you enter the building.

Accessible Building

Beaches Sandbox is committed to accessibility and is proud to operate in an accessible facility equipped with an elevator, braille signage, automatic doors, and other accessibility features.

Accessibility for people with reduced mobility

Building Entry

Please enter the building through the Queen Street entrance. The door is equipped with wave accessible doors.

First Floor

  • Once inside the front door, there is a wayfinding sign to your left which includes braille.

  • Walk down the hall to your right and at the end of the hallway you will find an elevator.

  • Our reception desk is located on the second floor – and there is braille signage for each button on the elevator.

Second Floor

  • When you exit the elevator, turn right to enter the second-floor lounge area. Directly in front of you and slightly to the right will be the reception desk with a member of our smiling and helpful guest relations team there to greet you.

  • Washrooms are located straight to the back of the lounge area:

    • The universal and accessible washroom door facing you if you go straight to the back. There is wave accessibility and an accessible handle as well as a handle in the bathroom itself and a change table.

    • The women’s washroom is located to the left of this door. 

    • The men’s washroom is located on the right side of the chalkboard (if you are facing the reception desk, use the walkway to the right of the desk and the sign will be in front of you – the door is just to the right of the sign.

  • Braille is on each room sign

  • There are no steps up or down on this floor

  • Studio locations – all studios have sliding doors

    • Lee Studio is the first studio on your left

Third Floor

  • When you exit the elevator, turn right to enter the third-floor lounge area. Directly in front of you will be the reception desk with a member of our smiling and helpful guest relations team there to greet you.

  • To enter the space, turn right and then right to go around the desk (from the elevator).

  • Washrooms are located straight to the back of the lounge area:

  • To access the universal and accessible washroom, go to the back of the lounge area and turn right. Head straight through the door (wave accessibility) and you will find the washroom door on your left (wave accessibility).

  • The women’s washroom is located on the right back wall of the lounge area of the chalkboard (if you are facing into the lounge, the door is located in the right back corner of the lounge)

  • The men’s washroom is located straight at the back of the lounge area toward the back stairwell, turn left and then right to find the door.

  • Braille is on each room sign

  • There are no steps up or down on this floor, but there is a slight curvature to get into each of the studios.

Activities for All

Beaches Sandbox welcomes kids, adults and seniors living with disabilities and mental health conditions as well as their families and caregivers. We do our best to ensure our programs and facilities are accessible. Beaches Sandbox understands that it may be difficult to know who has a disability. Our team is trained and committed to treat everyone with respect and dignity.
