What is Beaches Sandbox?Located in the heart of Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, Beaches Sandbox is a vibrant community centre offering high-quality programs, workshops, camps, and events for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. As a registered charity, we provide diverse activities including art, music, dance, fitness, cooking, STEM, and more in an accessible space. We strive to create fun experiences that foster healthy and meaningful connections, with a vision of building a happier and more connected community through creativity, well-being, and fun.

Where are you located?We are at 2181 Queen Street East in Toronto, on the southeast corner of Queen Street East and Lee. Go to the Contact Us section for more details on getting here.

Do you have a place for me to change and feed my baby?We have clean and comfortable public spaces to feed your baby and can provide microwave access. We have a change tables available.

My child left a personal item at the centre? Is there a Lost and Found?Yes – the Lost and Found is located at our reception desk on the second floor.

Where can I park my stroller/wagon?From Monday to Friday, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, you may park your stroller on the 3rd floor general area. At this time, we do not offer stroller parking during evening or weekend programs. Please do not park your stroller or wagon in the 1st-floor hallway.

Are your bathrooms available to the public?We have a high volume of guests who are using our bathrooms. Our bathrooms are only available to Beaches Sandbox program participants.

Do you have a microwave, plates, cups etc. available for me to use?We do have many kitchen items on-site. However, these items are not available at all times. Please ask a member of our guest relations team at the front desk before using any kitchen items. We have water bottle fillings stations available on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

You have a lot of people of all ages coming through the building - how often is it cleaned?Beaches Sandbox is committed to offering a clean and sanitary environment for all of our guests. In addition to a daily cleaning of all common areas, bathrooms, and 2nd floor studios as well as an annual deep clean of the entire building by a third-party cleaning company, our guest relations team provides the following: - 3rd Floor – Weekly glass cleaning and daily sweeping and mopping of the studios on weekdays - 2nd Floor – Daily sanitization of the playroom and toys, daily sweeping of common areas; weekly deep cleaning of playroom toys

Do you recycle and compost?Please try to take your waste with you when you leave Beaches Sandbox. Our garbage cans are divided into garbage, recycling and compost bins – please be mindful to place your waste in the appropriate bin.

Can I rent studio space?Yes! We rent out our studios for corporate rentals, community initiatives, meetings, birthday parties, holiday gatherings and other events. Learn more about booking our space and submit a space rental form.

How do I pay for my registration?Register and pay for classes and workshops at Beaches Sandbox directly through our registration platform RecDesk. We accept most major credit cards through this registration platform. More information on how to register can be found on the RecDesk website.

Do I register for an individual class or the full term?We understand life can be busy which is why we offer registration per class rather than full-term registration. To do this, check off the boxes of the classes you would like to attend when registering online. Please get in touch with us if you require further assistance.

What is your cancellation policy?The Beaches Sandbox cancellation policy can be found on individual class, workshop, and camp pages on our website. Please refer to the appropriate activity or event that you want to cancel, as each activity has different terms. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

How do I register for a member or household account?Information on how to register as a member or household can be found here. You must register for an account in order to sign up for programs, workshops, and camps. Please email or call our front desk if you have any questions.

What do I / my child bring to the centre for classes?Please bring: - Indoor shoes - Your own water bottle - Nut-free snacks from home may be enjoyed in the common areas We provide the following: - Clean Smocks for Art Classes - Clean Aprons and Protective “Cut Free” Gloves for Cooking Classes - Sanitized Yoga Mats - Guitars and Ukuleles for Music Classes

What should my child bring to camp each day?It is mandatory that your child be sent with nut free lunch and snacks each day. Campers must also bring a backpack, reusable water bottle, sunscreen, hat, change of clothes to be kept at the centre for the week, comfortable footwear that your child can run in, and appropriate attire for specific weather conditions. For summer camps, campers must bring a swimsuit and a towel.

My child requires special accommodations. Who should I contact?If your child requires special accommodations for allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc., please contact us so we can ensure your child's needs will be taken care of adequately.

Does Beaches Sandbox Camp offer extended care?Camps run daily from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Drop off begins at 8:30 am. After hours care is available from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm for an additional fee.

Do you offer financial assistance for camp?Yes, we have a financial assistance program at Beaches Sandbox for all programs, including camps. Learn more about our financial assistance program here.

What is the method of transportation to get to and from the field trips?The safety of all camp participants is our main priority, therefore, we use chartered school buses for all trips.

How do I book a space at Beaches Sandbox?Please use our Rental Form to submit your rental request. Once submitted, a Beaches Sandbox staff member will reach out to you.

Are there any discounts for non-profit or charitable organizations?Yes, we do offer a discount for non-profit or charitable organizations. Please contact Beaches Sandbox for more information.

Can I tour the spaces before booking?Yes, we encourage potential renters to schedule a tour of our facilities. You can book a tour by contacting Beaches Sandbox through email or phone.

What amenities are included in the rental spaces?Our rental spaces come with various amenities, such as complimentary wi-fi, air conditioning, the freedom to bring in outside catering, food and entertainment, as well as the use of up to 50 chairs and 20 folding 4-foot tables.

Can I bring alcohol into my rented space?We require those who wish to serve alcoholic beverages during their event to obtain a Special Occasions Permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) before their space rental. Once the certificate has been obtained, this should be sent to Beaches Sandbox.

Is there a deposit due upon booking?Yes, there is a 50% non-refundable deposit due upon booking. The remainder of the balance is due before your rental.

Do I need insurance?We ask that all space rentals have obtained event insurance prior to their booking. We recommend Special Events Liability from PAL Insurance.

Is there a sound system available for use?Each studio comes fully equipped with a Bluetooth hookup that plays from speakers in the ceiling.

Is there a capacity limit within Beaches Sandbox?Please see the capacities for each studio under each studio listed.

What can I expect when I rent space at Beaches Sandbox?Those who rent space at Beaches Sandbox can expect a clean, bright, and welcoming space for their rental. A Beaches Sandbox staff member will be onsite for your rental and will be available to answer any questions that may come up during the rental. Each studio is fully accessible, equipped with air conditioning and heating, has Bluetooth hookups to play music, large windows to allow in maximum natural light. Clean and accessible washrooms for guests and a water fill station on site. Each rental has access to up to 50 chairs and 20 4-foot folding tables.
