Title: Caregiver & Tot Free Play Attendant (Volunteer) 

Location: Beaches Sandbox, 2181 Queen St. E, Toronto  Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (4 hour shifts) Time Commitment: 4-hour shifts per week

Beaches Sandbox is a new charitable organization located in an accessible and environmentally friendly building in the Beaches neighbourhood in Toronto. The organization combats social isolation and loneliness by providing programs, workshops, and events for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Description of Duties: 

Beaches Sandbox is seeking a friendly, reliable volunteer to support our Caregiver & Tot Free Play program. This position plays an important role in welcoming families into a safe, engaging space designed for toddlers and their caregivers. 

• Arriving by 9:00 AM to set up the playroom in advance of the 9:30 AM start time 

• Overseeing the play session and ensuring the playroom rules are respectfully followed (e.g. no food/drinks, no phones, no photography) 

• Leading a short 15–20-minute daily story time or circle time activity 

• Tidying and resetting the room at the end of the session 

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with young children, is comfortable interacting with caregivers, and can create a warm, welcoming environment. 

This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in early childhood education, community programming, or simply a love of little ones!

Qualifications: 

• Friendly reliable and enjoys working with young children and their caregivers. 

• Comfortable leading a short story time or circle activity. 

• Punctual and able to independently manage setup and cleanup tasks. 

• Confident enforcing playroom guidelines in a respectful, professional manner. 

• Experience with children or in a similar setting is an asset.  

• Must be 18 years old older. 

• A Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed prior to beginning the position.
