Every Wednesday after school, a group of kids gathers at Beaches Sandbox to support their community.
Through Club Sandwich Jr. after school program, youth aged 8+ come together to prep, make, and package sandwiches that are delivered to local food banks and missions through Club Sandwich HQ at Glen Rhodes Church. But this kids after school program is about more than food—it’s about community care, skill-building, and making a tangible difference.
Led by Pia Fransen, the program is structured but relaxed. Led by Pia Fransen, the program is structured but relaxed. It’s a space to build kitchen skills, grow confidence, and spend time with friends—while having fun along the way. By the end of each session, stacks of sandwiches are packed and ready to be shared with neighbours facing food insecurity.
This volunteer program is made possible by the J.P. Bickell Foundation, McLean Meats, and the Beaches Sandbox community.
