Beaches Sandbox proudly presents JUNO Award-winning jazz icon Dave Young Quartet and Maple Blues Award-winning saxophonist and composer Alison Young Quartet as part of the Beaches Sandbox Speakeasy pop-up music experience. Hosted by award-winning singer and entertainer Shakura S’Aida, the event will take place on the 3rd floor of Beaches Sandbox, in the heart of Toronto's vibrant Beaches neighbourhood.

Proceeds from the event will support Beaches Sandbox's ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, accessible programs for all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

About Dave Young Quartet

Order of Canada recipient Dave Young is a bassist, composer, arranger, and educator. With an extensive career spanning five decades, Young has significantly contributed to jazz and classical music scenes in Canada and internationally, collaborating with top artists, including renowned musicians like Lenny Breau and Cedar Walton, and working extensively with Oscar Peterson.

About Alison Young

JUNO-nominated and Maple Blues Award-winning saxophonist and composer Alison Young is a rising star known for her creativity and flair in playing. Young began playing professionally as a teenager, developing an affinity for blues R&B, and jazz. She has an active presence in the Toronto music scene leading her own ensemble, and has appeared on over 50 recordings and has toured internationally with various artists, including iconic pop star Corey Hart.

About Shakura S’Aida

2024 Her Music Awardee Shakura S’Aida, has traveled the globe for over two decades, connecting and inspiring audiences with her powerful vocals. An undeniable talent and an advocate for human rights, she is a central figure in Toronto’s music scene. S’Aida has garnered not only an international recording and touring career but has shone on the theatre stage and on-screen, including as Lena, a member of the beloved “Jazzagals” in the acclaimed series Schitt’s Creek.
